Old Dominion University Big Blue Club Methods of Giving
Methods of Giving:
Cash Gifts
Gifts of cash are received and acknowledged through the Intercollegiate Foundation. Checks should be made payable to Old Dominion University Foundations.
Credit Cards
One of the easiest and most convenient ways to make your donation is to charge it on your credit card. The Intercollegiate Foundation accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Gifts of Securities
Gifts of appreciated stocks or bonds have the same positive benefit to the university as a gift of cash. However, a gift of securities is usually more beneficial to the donor than a gift of cash. The donor may claim a charitable income tax deduction based on the fair market value of the donated securities on the date the gift is made, and also avoid capital gains taxes.
Gifts in Kind
In lieu of monetary gifts, the Foundation can accept non-monetary donations. Examples include automobiles, food and beverages, or services. These contributions allow the foundation to reduce operating expenses, while still providing benefits to Old Dominion University athletics. All Gifts in Kind must be approved by the Executive Director.
Gifts of Real Estate
Any gift of real estate may be donated. The rules for gifts of real estate are essentially the same as for gifts of securities. You receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the real estate.
Other Gift Opportunities
The Foundation will work with you to create an individual giving program utilizing many methods of support including: planned gifts, wills, trusts, life insurance, and personal property.
