Norfolk - Old Dominion University athletic director Jim Jarrett announced today that men's basketball head coach Blaine Taylor has accepted an extension of his contract through the 2014-15 season. Taylor is 278-149 (.651) in 14 years asa collegiate head coach and 136-84 (.618) in seven seasons at ODU.

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Monarchs of Old Dominion (18-15) held off the Broncs of Rider University (23-11) to win the first ever College Basketball Invitational (CBI) game and advance to the quarterfinals against UVa, who dropped Richmond by two in the opening round. Redshirt freshman Frank Hassell notched a career-high in points with 14 and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds to lead the Monarchs in what proved to be an extremely balanced game. All tickets will be general admission, with ODU season ticket holders having preferred rights to their same seats. Nathan Mann hit a 3-pointer with 7.5 seconds to play Saturday, breaking a tie and giving William & Mary a 63-60 victory against fourth-seeded Old Dominion in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. It was the second consecutive dramatic victory for the Tribe (16-15), which beat Georgia State in the first round on David Schneider's 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds to go. ODU was led by Gerald Lee with 20 points and seven rebounds along with senior Brian Henderson wih 15 points.
