Keita Malloy To Coach Wide Receivers And Tight Ends At ODU

Feb. 25, 2008

Norfolk, Va. - Old Dominion University head football coach Bobby Wilder announced today that Keita Malloy has joined the staff as the wide receivers and tight ends coach.

"Our entire football family is excited with the addition of Keita Malloy as our wide receivers and tight ends coach at Old Dominion," added Wilder. "He exemplifies all of the qualities we are looking for in a leader for our student-athletes. He is a good person, a good leader, and has a proven record as a recruiter. He has extensive knowledge of fundamentals, techniques and game planning in our offensive scheme, the spread offense."

Malloy comes to ODU after having spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Trinity College Bantams in Hartford, Conn., where he worked with the wide receivers. Prior to that he served as the tight ends coach (2003) and running backs coach (2004 & 2005) at Fordham University, where he also oversaw the team's academics.

Malloy also served as an assistant coach at Mount Pleasant High School and John Dickinson High School in Delaware from 1995 to 2000, before beginning his collegiate coaching career as a wide receivers assistant at Lafayette in 2000. He coached the running backs and wide receivers at Washburn University in 2001 and the receivers at West Georgia in 2002, before joining the Fordham staff in 2003.

Malloy earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1995 from the University of Delaware where he was a three-year letterwinner and starter at defensive back, wide receiver, and on kickoff return. One of the rare players still playing both offense and defense in college football, Malloy was an all-conference wide receiver while helping Delaware win two league titles and earn three NCAA Division I-AA playoff bids. Malloy, who also holds a master's degree in education from American Intercontinental University, played professionally in the Arena Football League from 1994 to 1996 for the Massachusetts Marauders, the Albany Firebirds, and the Texas Terror.
