Final Stats

NORFOLK, Va. -- In a back-and-forth game against St. Joseph's University (2-2) at Foreman Field, ODU (2-0) prevailed, 12-11, on a last second shot from newcomer Saratu Dodo (Cleveland Heights, Ohio), on her first career goal. Both teams led in the game, neither team ever held better than a two-goal advantage and the score was tied seven times before the Lady Monarchs netted the winner off an assist from senior Kelly Kimener (Oakton, Va.).

In a tie game with 55 seconds remaining, the senior, Kimener, flew back onto the field after the completion of her three-minute penalty. Immediately receiving the ball, she held on to it as the offense positioned itself for a final shot. From the top of the arc, the sophomore midfielder flashed to the goal, Kimener found her with the pass and Dodo tickled the twine for the gamewinner with just over 17 seconds remaining.

Kimener added two goals and two more assists for five points on the day to lead the Lady Monarchs. Sophomore Ashley Kellogg (Downington, Pa.) also had five points with two goals and three assists to follow up her four goal performance on Saturday against American. Junior Jessica Noone (Manassas, Va.) scored three goals and added an asist as all five of her shots were on-goal.

The Lady Monarchs didn't trail after senior Kaelyn Schival (Horsham, Pa.) notched her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute of play to tie the game at 7-7. Seven different ODU players scored the 12 Lady Monarch goals as 18 of their 20 shots were on-goal.

Christina Colangelo led the way for the Hawks, scoring four goals on eight shots. Lindsey-Kate McCool added three and Courtney McManama and Abby Renninger both added two apiece.

It was the first ever matchup between the two programs as ODU takes a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series. Old Dominion will host their next game on Saturday, March 8 against UMBC at 1:00 pm.
